Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to get an erection or to keep an erection. It primarily affects older men, but it can occur at any age, and there are many lifestyle factors which play an important role in causing it. The primary physiological causes are diabetes and cardiovascular problems, and it should be noted that erectile dysfunction can be an important early warning signal to these kinds of problems.  On the other hand, there are less insidious ways that one can experience difficulty in getting an erection. Those who are facing excess stress or tension have a better chance to develop erectile dysfunction, for instance. Emotional problems, such as arguments with the partner can do the same.

Smoking is also one of the biggest problems which cause this condition as smoking leads to blockage of arteries and the amount of flow of blood to the penis. With as little as two cigarettes a day, negative sexual effects may be present. Other drugs, especially alcohol, contribute greatly to the chance of having problems with erectile dysfunction, and if you are worried about it, you should make the appropriate changes in your habits.
